What’s New? Exciting MATHia Enhancements

We have so many exciting updates coming for you in the fall! Here are some of the highlights.

New and Enhanced MATHia Content

Not only will MATHia be faster this school year, but it will be packed with new and enhanced content! This content can be accessed through:

  • Concept Builder Workspaces - students engage with a variety of instructional strategies—explore tools, animations, classification tools, and worked examples—to develop their understanding of math concepts.
  • Mastery Workspaces - provide students with highly individualized and self-paced instruction that adapts to their exact needs to deepen their conceptual understanding of the mathematics.

New Progress Meter

Students previously tracked their progress with the Progress Bar, but we've taken your feedback and redesigned this feature to become the brand new Progress Meter.

The Progress Meter helps students visualize progress through a workspace. It has two views: Summary and Detail. The Summary View provides a quick, at-a-glance summary, while the Detailed View shows more detailed progress and skill information. You can collapse or expand the Progress Meter at any time.

In Concept Builder Workspaces, the Progress Meter shows students which step they are on in the current problem, how many steps are left, and how many problems are left in the workspace.

In Mastery Workspaces, the Progress Meter shows progress toward skill mastery. Each skill’s name, such as “Calculate quotient,” is displayed alongside a corresponding progress ring that adjusts with the level of mastery. The level of mastery is not a percent of correct and incorrect responses. Rather, it’s a predictor of the probability that you will be able to demonstrate that skills again the future. Progress rings move from blue to green to indicate mastery.

New Reports

We have too many exciting updates to include here—you'll just have to see it to believe it. Check out all the new and updated reports!

Performance & Usability Enhancements

We've taken your feedback, plus the data on how MATHia is used, to make significant improvements, including but not limited to:

  • Improved Software Performance and Stability - MATHia will now be faster and more reliable for you and your students!
  • Improved Answer Submissions - Partially completed answers will not be submitted to MATHia until students are ready to submit. If a student clicks away (to access a Hint, for example), the answer will get a decoration indicating that it has not yet been submitted. To submit an answer, the student needs to use the Enter, Return, or Tab key on their keyboard.
  • Improved Scaffolding - 60+ new Concept Builder workspaces, new animations and explore tools designed to provide scaffolding for students to be more successful in Mastery Workspaces.
  • Improved Readability - Nearly 200 scenarios were rewritten across 26 workspaces. The resulting average reading level across all these workspaces dropped by more than one full grade level, making the content more accessible for your students.

See what else is new this year.
